ISO management system standards now contain requirements for ‘top management’. Gone are the days when organisations could assign their ‘ISO system’ to a single person way down the organisation chart. Top Management is a person or group of people who directs and controls an organisation at the highest level.
The clue to who top management is, is in my description above, ‘directs’, ‘at the highest level’.
For a small company, this may be one person at that level, and for larger organisations, it may be a group of people all at this level.Back to Ask Alistair
